题目1A Journey from A SSR-based Low Density Map to A SNP-based High Density Map for Genetics and Genomics Study in peanut

主讲Prof. Baozhu Guo

时间619 9:00

地点:国家重点实验室大楼一楼报告厅

主讲人简介:

Dr. Baozhu Guo serves as a Research Plant Pathologist with the USDA-Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Tifton, GA, and as adjunct professor ofUniversity of Georgia from 2002.Also he is lead scientist for ARS Project “Developing Genomic Approaches to Improve Resistance to Diseases and Aflatoxin Contamination in Peanut and Corn” and conducts complex, multidisciplinary research that focuses on the responses of agricultural crops to biotic and abiotic stresses. Dr. Guo has been performing research for 30 years, and his creativity and consistent research productivity have been thoroughly documented by over 160 research publications and over 300 abstracts. Over his 20 plus years with ARS, Dr. Guo has developed a strong regional, national, and international reputation as a leader in the scientific community in elucidating disease resistance mechanisms in corn and peanut and released several corn inbred lines with improved resistance, and developed peanut mapping populations as community resources for genetic and genomic research.

题目2Utilizing -omics Technologies to Search the “Silver Bullet” to Aspergillus flavus Colonization and Aflatoxin Production in Commodity Crops

主讲:Dr.Jake Fountain

时间:61910:30

地点:国家重点实验室大楼一楼报告厅

主讲人简介:

Dr. Jake Fountain serves as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Georgia, Tifton, GA. Dr. Fountain’s research has focused on using “omics” to study the interaction of important agricultural crops including peanut and maize with Aspergillus flavus under environmental stress aimed at preventing aflatoxin contamination under drought stress. Currently, he is focusing on the use of transgenic and genome editing methods to enhance drought tolerance and reduce aflatoxin contamination in corn and peanut. He is also working on the development of reference genomes for comparative genomics of A. flavus isolates to identify the key regulators of aflatoxin production.
